Proof in hammer-mounted copper dinanderie with a nuanced brown patina and silver inlay. The decorative turning frieze is entirely embellished with juxtaposed feathers. Signed and dated "Jean DUNAND 1914" under the heel. Presented on a black marble base resting on four ball feet. Height: 52 cm - Total height: 56 cm Provenance : * This vase is one of the major works produced by the artist just over ten years after he began to take up the art of brassware. Produced in 1914, it was exhibited at the Salon de la Nationale in Paris in 1914 alongside other pieces, bowls, trays, vases and boxes. * This creation is a historic and important work that marked the revival of artistic metalwork, a field that was to occupy an important place in the art world until the Second World War, and launched Jean Dunand's career as the most famous brassware maker of the 20th century. * Acquired from a French collection, then passed on by descent.
